Session dates are not held without a signed retainer, contract and payment. And I'm firm on that!
With that being said -- we’ve all done it -- forgot about an obligation.
There are times where a bill goes unnoticed, a paper doesn’t get sent and there has to be an understanding that busy people need to be reminded.
You're clients are no exception.
I know, I know, you aren’t a babysitter, but if you want yo-money you need to do yo-job.
This is why it is in my workflow to send an email a few days prior to due dates each time.
If I don’t get a response back I always call them with the reminder.
You do not want to play cat and mouse with this kind of thing. Also, emails get lost in a black internet hole so if you haven’t heard from your client pick up the phone.
What to do when client hasn’t made the final payment?
You hunt them down. No, just kidding.
That may be a little over the edge (hehehehe).
But you do take proper procedures and that may mean cancelling the session altogether. It’s my belief that you should never even start snapping photos until you are fully paid.
Does this seem a little harsh? Well you are a business after all. If you don’t take that seriously no one will.
