How to create beautiful eyes WITHOUT the alien look!

Adding sparkle and enhancing catch light in eyes is a necessity in portrait photography.  However, commonly this is overdone.  Remember that opacity will be the deciding factor between alien eyes and the perfect sparkle.  Please listen to this suggestion because though you may love the shine you can create on your clients, they will appreciate still looking human. Below are two photos that show the same action, Twinkly Eyes Photoshop Action.  The photo on the right has the action at a high opacity making them appear over processed.  Also note the overuse of “whitening” on the eye.  Many times…

How To Create Sharp Macro Photographs

Shooting macro is the key to photographing details.  A lens that is not macro will not allow you to get close enough to photograph sharp details.  Purchasing a macro lens will not limit you to only up-close photos of miscellaneous images.  Many macro lenses can also be great for portrait work.  I shoot with a 105mm 2.8 and use it for rings and outdoor art but I also can quickly turn and use it for portrait work as well.  Very versatile. The tip to photographing detail images is to get close and also use manual focus if possible.  I find…
